Interested in Volunteering?
The Alliance for Lawyers and Rural America (AfLARA) is currently seeking part-time, volunteer staff with skills and experience in one or more of the following areas: community relationships, organizational partnerships, graphic design, web design, social media strategy, public relations, marketing, and/or organizational management. As you know, AfLARA - www.aflara.org - is a very nascent organization that aims to bridge work, dialogue, and positive efforts at the intersection of law and rurality. While there are currently no paid staff positions, the work presents a great opportunity for the volunteer to shape the trajectory of an exciting, new organization that aims to fill a very large gap in this growing area of study and advocacy.
The volunteer would have opportunities to get to know (and vice versa) the many other people, organizations, and efforts in this space, which could be particularly appealing for students or professionals seeking to expand their professional networks. This position, like the organization, is open to lawyers and non-lawyers alike, though an interest in the intersection of law and rurality is strongly preferred. The typical workload can be set by the volunteer and the work needed, though 5+ hours per week would be ideal.
If you are interested, please send a resume and cover letter to firstname.lastname@example.org. If we are interested, we will contact you for further information and to see if your skills are a fit for our current needs.
